Swirls Cupcakery Is a Hidden Gem | Restaurants
Our cupcake consumption has really increased in the last two months. With the opening of 3 new cupcake boutiques (two in the southtowns!) we’ve really stepped up our cupcake game. Alli and I have wanted to visit Swirls Cupcakery for a long time now but because of work we couldn’t make it down during the week (they are only open until 5 on weekdays and 8 on Fridays and Saturdays) and our weekends have been really busy. But last weekend we made a point to schedule a drive and finally sample their cupcakes.
We’ve been following the progress of their shop and getting hungry looking at all of their flavors on facebook, even having an online conversation with chef/baker Michael Wulf (btw, he’s 18!). Their shop is hidden away behind Taste and requires a short walk down the brightly painted alleyway (pictured below). You can definitely take their cupcakes to go, but they also have some drinks and tables available if you’d like to sit there and eat your treats on the spot.
When we walked into the shop we were greeted by a very friendly woman behind the counter who was very eager to show off all the flavors that were being offered that day. We decided to order half a dozen to get a nice sample of what Swirls had to offer. That day they did have some vegan/gluten free cupcakes but that’s not a problem for Alli or myself so we went with their regular offerings. Here is what we thought about 5 different flavors we walked away with that day..
To read about the different flavors being offered at Swirls Cupcakery, read the full article here on BuffaloEats.org. We ended up trying 5 different flavors on this trip.
