National Grid's Commitment to Reenergize Gill Creek Park Comes Into Full Bloom

Niagara Falls Park receives another installment of $125,000 extreme makeover

In what has become something of a rite of spring, more than 50 National Grid employees returned to Gill Creek Park in Niagara Falls to continue efforts to beautify and transform this popular public park and community asset into one of Niagara County’s most picturesque and useful green spaces.  This is the fourth time in five years that National Grid volunteers have worked with city and neighbor organizations on projects in the park.

Legislator Dixon Plans Community Meetings at Library, Village Hall

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon will host two community meetings in her district to meet with constituents and provide an update on Legislative items and other County matters.

The community meetings will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 at Lakeshore Library, S4857 Lakeshore Road, Hamburg, NY 14075, and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Village of Blasdell Hall, 121 Miriam Ave., Blasdell, NY 14219.

Legislator Dixon and her staff will also be available to discuss local and county issues and answer questions related to the budget, road projects, services and other items. Information concerning Senior Services, Social Services, Veteran Affairs, the County Clerk’s office and other County departments will also be available. Notary services are available free of charge. Yellow Dot packets will be distributed to anyone in need.

Legislator Mills Announces Boston, Orchard Park Library Fundraisers

Erie County Legislator John J. Mills will host the 1st annual Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser to benefit the Boston Free Library.

“I am looking forward to the first hot dog roast in Boston and bringing this fun event to the community. I hope everyone will come out and support the library,” said Legislator Mills.

The fundraiser will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Boston Free Library, 9475 Boston State Road, Boston. The event will also feature Bubbleman from 6 to 7 p.m.

Grisanti Sponsored “Sewage Pollution Right To Know Act” Signed By Governor

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced that Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed the “Sewage Pollution Right To Know Act” which passed the Senate in June.  This Bill which Grisanti introduced amends the environmental conservation law to establish a procedure for the operator of any sewage treatment plant to notify the public of all raw sewage overflows within 24 hours. The bill spells out all the information that must be reported to the New York State Department of Health and the Department of Environmental Conservation including when, where and how much has been spilled.   The purpose of this legislation is to provide valuable information to the public about spills in a timely manner and in an effective way.
