Hamburg Police Ask For Public's Help in Fatal Hit & Run

Jennifer Martello was found along side of Big Tree Road in Hamburg unconscious and suffering from a severe head wound at about 12:30 in the morning of July 15.

She died later that day at ECMC.

Ever since that day, Hamburg police have been working the case - taking calls, talking to people and following up on leads,.but so far they have no suspects.

Now they're looking to the public for help.

"Anybody that knows anything, and we believe that somebody knows something, their neighbor's car was smashed, somebody said something to somebody, anything as little as it may seem to them, we want them to call us and let us know," Scott Kashino a detective with the Hamburg Police Department said.

Martello's husband Sam, who was very active on Facebook following the accident, said his wife had been upset about not getting a job she was up for and she went out that night even though he asked her not to.

"Without tipping our hand too much, the accounts the husband gave us checked out as much as they could have. Everything he told us we checked out and everything seems to be in order with what he's been doing," Kashino said.

And so after more than three weeks of investigating Hamburg police are waiting for results of evidence from the scene that was sent to the county crime lab, and waiting for a call from the public.

"The big thing is if someone has info we need to know what it is," Kashino said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hamburg police at 648-5111 extension 2502. Police say people can call anonymously if they want to.
