Holiday Programs at Eden Library

Holiday preparations are underway at the Eden Library. A Family Fun Night is planned for Monday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and take part in making a holiday craft. Everything you need will be supplied but please register in advance.

On the following Saturday (December 11), children ages 5 and up can play Holiday Bingo starting at 12:30 p.m. There will be other activities as well.

The Explore & More Museum invites children ages 5 and up to come and make a Graham Cracker House with them on Wednesday, December 15. There will be two sessions for this popular program; one starts at 6 p.m. and the second session is at 7 p.m. at the library. This Explore & More program is funded by the General Mills Foundation. There is no fee, but advance registration is required.

Please Support Pet Connection’s Holiday Dinner Dance

Tickets are still available for Pet Connection’s Holiday Concert and Dinner Dance taking place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, December 4, at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew. The event includes dinner, entertainment by Jack Civiletto and The Pyramid Band, a huge basket auction and much more.

One lucky door prize winner will take home four one-day Disney Hopper Passes valued at $544!

Tickets for the event are just $25 and are presale only. They can be obtained by calling the shelter at 652-0192.

Pet Connection Releases Holiday Wish List

You can add a little joy to the holidays this season by making a donation to Pet Connection Programs Inc. from their holiday wish list. Pet Connection, founded in 1984, is a special care and maternity animal shelter located at 12935 Williston Road in Marilla.

Don't Miss the Independent Health 'Fitness for Kids' Cheer Challenge on Sunday

Come watch these exciting high school and all star cheer teams tumble, perform stunts, cheer and dance in the Independent Health Foundation’s Fitness for Kids Cheer Challenge. All proceeds benefit the Fitness for Kids Challenge program.     

The Fitness for Kids Challenge, which runs through April 30, 2010, encourages children age 12 and under to complete health and fitness activities. In the first two years of the Challenge, more than 200,000 fitness activities have been completed, 100,000 youth have been reached in approximately 200 schools throughout Western New York and 25,000 activity trackers have been submitted.

The event includes a special performance by Buffalo Envy All Stars.

Competition begins at 10 a.m.

Open House to Celebrate Library Centennial

The Eden Library begins its centennial year with a public Open House on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. This date commemorates its original opening in 1911 as a free association library. There will be displays, videos, and light refreshments to mark this special anniversary.

November Activities at Eden Library

The Eden Library will present a class in “Computer Basics” on Friday, November 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.  This class focuses on what a computer is, how it works, the difference between hardware and software and much more. Registration for this class is required in advance as space is limited. This is a great opportunity for those who may not be experienced using a computer to get started.

A special program for children ages 3 to 5 will take place on Tuesday, November 16 at 11 a.m. “Turkey Tuesday” will feature stories, songs, and crafts for the Thanksgiving season. And following up on those festivities will be Thanksgiving Bingo on Saturday, November 20 at 12:30 p.m. This special Bingo game is for kids ages 5 and up.
