(Erie County, NY) – Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon and Urban Valet Dry Cleaners have collected and cleaned dresses in preparation of this year’s Prom Dress Drive Shopping Days. Area high school girls are welcome to “shop” for a free dress during one of two events.

“I recently read an article about the cost of prom exceeding $2,000. Some families aren’t comfortable spending that amount of money. To help defray some of the cost of prom, I started my Prom Dress Drive three years ago and it has helped hundreds of local girls find a perfect gown for the dance,” Legislator Dixon said. “This year the community once again got involved and donated some amazing dresses. The Shopping Days have always been a lot of fun for the girls, moms and their friends. Teens that are interested are welcome to come to Hamburg High School to look through the collection; we have a wide variety of sizes, colors and styles available.”

The dates for this year’s Prom Dress Drive Shopping Days are 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Hamburg High School, 4111 Legion Drive, Hamburg, NY, 14075.

All the dresses available were generously donated by members of the community. Urban Valet donated its resources to clean the dresses.

“We are so pleased with the community’s generosity again this year.  We collected and cleaned several hundred dresses this year and look forward to the shopping event coming up,” said Eric Pyne, owner of Urban Valet.
