TeamSave Arrives in WNY With Web Discounts for Consumers

A new collective buying website that allows consumers to receive substantial discounts on goods, services and events from hundreds of Buffalo-area businesses has entered the Western New York marketplace.

Toronto-based TeamSave began offering daily discounts of at least 50 percent to Western New York consumers on August 26. Individuals can access these offers by registering on TeamSave.com. Registration is free and the only requirement to register is an e-mail address. The company also promotes its daily discounts on its TeamSave Buffalo Facebook page.

Congressman Moves Forward with Plan to Enhance Public Space, Connect Waterfront & Drive Economic Growth

Standing along the Erie Canal Commercial Slip, Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) outlined his plan for next steps in Buffalo’s waterfront development.  The Congressman formally submitted the plan to Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) after receiving Bass Pro’s July 29, 2010 letter “withdrawing from further consideration of this (Canal Side) development” and has been working on implementing components of his plan over the last several weeks.

“Western New York has an extraordinary opportunity and extraordinary resources to remake its waterfront,” said Higgins.  “By making the necessary investments in public infrastructure we set the stage for long-term private sector investment.”

Windham Professionals, a national debt management company located at 300 Gleed Ave. in East Aurora, is currently looking for experienced collection supervisors to join their team.

Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, performance appraisal, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and enforcing company policies.

One to two years of related experience is required, or a combination of education and experience.

New Hamburg Casino Opens

The new Hamburg Casino at the Fairgrounds that opened on Friday, August 13, is 34 percent larger than the facility which it replaced, said General Manager Ellsworth Gaskill in a statement.

"The new Hamburg Casino will offer a fresh and modern entertainment destination to Western New York. New games, a beautiiful bar, live bands and delicious food -- all within a spacious, contemporary facility -- will no doubt impress guests, old an new," said Gaskill.

Amenities at the $25.4 million, 66,000-square-foot facility include several dining options, a bar and lounge, private banquet room, 50 flat-screen TVs, a live entertainment stage, and a newly paved and expanded parking lot.

Urgent: Pet Connection Needs Your Help!

Do to a manufacturing mix-up, Pet Connection Programs Inc. is in urgent need of reusable grocery-style bags for the Erie County Fair. The bags are then filled with pet supplies and sold to Fairgoers to raise funds for the nonprofit animal shelter in Marilla. Unfortunately, only 200 bags have arrived so far, and they sold out the very first day of the Fair.
