HAMBURG, N.Y. -- Drastic changes are coming to one of Hamburg’s most popular restaurants.

JP Fitzgerald’s on Clark Street is embarking on a $1.4 million renovation project that will include new patios, additional kitchen space and a banquet facility.

Evans Bank in Hamburg is financing the restaurant’s reconstruction. “As a local community bank, we are always happy to help a local community business expand and grow for the future,” said Jeffrey Werdein, vice president of Evans Bank.

An official ground-breaking ceremony was held last Thursday (Jan. 13) afternoon that involved various Hamburg town and village officials.

How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen

Dear Tom,

My ’02 Oldsmobile Alero has had the ignition switch replaced four times in the past two years! Each time the switch fails everything seems normal. However, when I turn the key to start the vehicle nothing happens … no cranking, no clicking, it’s just dead. The battery has been replaced. Every time the problem occurs the Olds dealer says the problem is the magnet on the ignition switch, which is part of the security system.
