Pet Connection teaming up with WHTT at the Erie County Fair

Pet Connection Programs Inc. is teaming up with 104.1 WHTT-FM at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg from Aug. 11-22. Volunteers from the nonprofit animal shelter will be at the WHTT van and gazebo located directly behind the new casino selling pet totes filled with treats and toys for dogs and cats. All proceeds will benefit the shelter and animals in need of urgent medical care.


Additionally, Pet Connection volunteers will be selling tickets to the organization’s Holiday Dinner Dance featuring Jack Civilleto & The Pyramid Band on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew.

Largest Summer Orientation Yet at Hilbert

HAMBURG, N.Y. – More than 100 first-time Hilbert College students will be attending the August 6 on-campus orientation, making it the largest group ever to take part in a summer orientation program at the college. The program for students and parents will take place from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at various on campus locations.

During the one-day orientation program, new students will become more familiar with the campus and learn about services, clubs, organizations, and career planning, as well as meet other students who will be attending Hilbert in the fall.

Students will also have a chance to test their teamwork skills in group races being held from 11:05 a.m.-12:05 p.m. in the Hafner Recreation Center.

Model Air Show This Weekend

HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Flying Knights of Hamburg's 29th annual Model Aircraft Air Show takes to the skies this weekend at the Hamburg Recreation Center (former Nike base) Model Airpark.

The event is open to the public with only a small donation for parking, a portion of which benefits Camp Good Days and Special Times.

Flyers from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Canada will be flying their one-quarter and one-third scale, radio-controlled airplanes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, August 7 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 8. Refreshments will be on sale.

Hamburg Adopt a Playground Program

HAMBURG, NY-The Town of Hamburg "Adopt a Playground" program will officially get underway on Saturday, August 7th with a sign ceremony.

The event is set to take place Saturday, August 7th at 9 AM at the Sagamore Playground on Mundy St. in Blasdell.

Town Supervisor Steven Walters and Councilman Kevin Smardz wil be on hand to presents signs to the participants of the newly established program.

The following playgrounds have been adopted so far:

  • Overlook-by Jeffrey Hileman & Family
  • Sagamore-"In Memory of Betty and Scotty Mulkern" by Joe Conigilio and Family
