Hello Yesterday! An 80's Festival

Celebrate all the best of the 80's at Hello Yesterday! An all-ages, all-day 80's Festival featuring A Flock of Seagulls, When In Rome, Animotion, Dramarama and Gene Loves Jezebel.  The festival includes a LipSync contest, 80's Guitar Hero and much more!

Dress totally 80's for the best 80's costume contest and win a new iPad!   Tickets are available for purchase online at helloyesterday.net or at both Record Theatre outlets in Buffalo (1800 & 3500 Main Street).

General Admission on-line tickets are $35 (plus applicable fees). Tickets the day of the event are $45.  Children 13 and under are free.

Portions of the proceeds will benefit Hunter's Hope. Festival attendees will have an opportunity to contribute to the community and help Hunter's Hope by participating in the silent auction. The tent will be open all day with two auctions going on during the festival.

Erie County Introduces Garbage Totes in Parks

New totes include smoke-free message

 

Erie County Executive Chris Collins and Parks Commissioner Jim Hornung, in conjunction with the Erie Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, are pleased to announce the County has added garbage totes inscribed with a non-smoking message to park shelters in several County parks.  The totes will make it easier for parks crews to remove debris, while also delivering an important message.  The Erie Niagara Tobacco Free Coalition contributed to the purchase of 400 totes that carry the request, “Help us keep Erie County parks smoke free and litter free.  Please no smoking.”

 

The totes are already at shelters in Chestnut Ridge, Como Lake and Ellicott Creek parks.  All other County parks should have them by mid-September.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – In June 2010, HEALTHeLINK received the largest Beacon Community Award in the United States from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Beacon Project was created to help communities use health information technology to forge cooperation and use resources effectively toward local priority health goals.

HEALTHeLINK was joined today by Dr. David Blumenthal, the point person for the national health information technology initiative, as well as other dignitaries, including Congressman Brian Higgins and New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Richard F.

Erie County Fair Passes 1 Million Mark

HAMBURG, NY - Thousands of Western New Yorkers took advantage of one of the biggest county fairs in New York State. The Erie County Fair wrapped up Sunday night, after a nearly two-week run. And fair organizer say they couldn't have asked for a better turn-out.

The fair's Marketing Director, Louanne Delaney, tells 2 On Your Side that the great weather over the past couple of weeks helped push fair attendance just over 1 million. Delaney says good fair attendance is also good for the overall Western New York economy.

"Hotels are all booked. We have a lot of people coming in from out of town that capitalize the infrastructure, businesses around the area. When they get some time off, they run up to Niagara Falls, taking the sites, taking some of the recommendations that we have."

Missing Man in Hamburg

HAMBURG, NY - The Town of Hamburg Police need your help in searching for a missing man.

Earl D. Butler has been missing since 10 p.m. Friday night.

He was last scene on Camp Rd. by his elderly father.

Butler is 53 years old, a 5'5" white male and 155 lbs. Medium build and medium complexion. He has dark black hair and no facial hair.

If anyone has any information on this man they are to call the Town of Hamburg Police at 716-648-5111.

"2 Pack a Backpack" A Huge Success!

BUFFALO, NY - The need is greater than ever as this year's "2 Pack a Backpack" Drive to collect school supplies for the Boys and Girls Club. This year's drive has wrapped up and is a big success. 

Last year, enough supplies were collected to fill six school buses, which helped supply over 3,000 book bags. 2 On Your Side needs your help to make this year's efforts our biggest and best ever.

Volunteers will work through the weekend to organize and distribute the supplies.

If you would like to register for the school supplies, you can contact the Boys and Girls' Club at:  716-825-1016 on Monday.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo and Boys & Girls Clubs of Niagara Falls coordinate the distribution of the backpacks and school supplies.
